What is NFC?

NFC stands for Near Field Communication — the same short-range wireless technology behind Google Pay, Apple Pay and tap-to-pay cards. An NFC chip is a tiny, battery-free antenna embedded inside your card. When a phone comes within a few centimetres, the phone briefly powers the chip and reads the link stored on it.

What happens when someone taps your card

1. You hold your card to the top-back of their phone.
2. The phone reads the link on the chip (e.g. taprio.in/yourname).
3. A notification appears — they tap it once.
4. Your full profile opens in their browser: photo, number, WhatsApp, socials, website, UPI, location and more.

That's it. No app to install on either side, no account to create, no typing. Your contact can save your details or message you on WhatsApp in one tap.

"What if their phone doesn't have NFC?"

Every Taprio card also has a printed QR code. If a phone is older or has NFC switched off, they simply open the camera and scan the QR — the same profile opens. In practice, almost every phone works: NFC is supported on all modern Android phones and iPhone 7 and newer.
